What is calf slimming injection (Gastrocnemius injection)?

Large calf muscles make one’s leg appear bulky. Anti-muscular injections can shrink the size of the masseter and make one’s face appear slim. This is called a calf slimming injection.

What is the procedure?

  • Gastrocnemius muscles are identified.

  • A tiny microinjection of the muscle-relaxing medication is strategically injected into each calf muscle.Β

  • Over the next few weeks, calf muscles weaken. The weakened muscle will shrink leading to a slimmer appearance.

  • More slimming result can be obtained by dissolving the medial knee fat pad at the same time.

How long before seeing the result?

  • 1 week for muscle weakness.

  • In two weeks, you will start seeing the slimming effect.

  • 4-6 weeks for the maximum results.

How long does it last?

  • Slimming effect generally lasts 6-9 months.

  • Thereafter, your calf muscle strength and the bulkiness will gradually return.

  • We recommend the Calf slimming injection twice a year for best results all year round. After 3-4 sessions, once a year is usually sufficient for most people.

  • Individual variations exists.

What are the possible complications?

Complications are not common. But these there can be temporary weakness of calf muscles which may reduce your ability to walk up the hill or steps.
